The Foundation for Management and Industrial Research as part of the European Information and Innovation Centre in Macedonia for the YES Incubator’s companies has organised a one-day seminar for introducing the concepts and tools from the fields of Innovation Management and New Product Development (NPD). On the seminar the typical phases, tools and methodologies have been presented. In addition, the structure of IP and the ways to protect it were presented as well.
In the conditions of market globalisation, maximising the fit to customer needs while minimising the time-to-market (TTM) have become a priority for the businesses. In order to be competitive, the companies must develop new products or services with a short TTM, but maintaining a superior quality. These conditions are demanding from the companies to shorten the development time and to introduce tools for increased creativity and innovativeness. Such tools that can help the companies in dealing with the mentioned challenges are part of the commonly used methodologies for innovation management (completely new products – breakthroughs or incremental improvements of existing products).
Special emphasis has been given to the role of information technologies as one of the prerequisites for successful managing the process of innovation and new product development. At the same time, the managing processes can be a basis for development of new IT tools – commercial products. Additionally, IPR contribute to the increased competitiveness of companies and distinguish them on the market.
The European Information and Innovation Centre in Macedonia is part of Enterprise Europe Network (http://www.enterprise-europe-network.ec.europa.eu), a large European network for supporting SMEs in establishing trans-national business, technology or scientific cooperation with potential partner from all over Europe.
